Every year, The Public Square® begins its broadcast season with a tradition listeners look forward to: Christmas in America. Each season, the team steps into the time machine in search of the Manger and visits a different year in American history—rediscovering the spirit, music, and meaning of Christmas in that moment. It’s part radio broadcast, part live concert, and entirely centered on celebrating the hope at the heart of the season.
Christmas in America is recorded in front of a live studio audience and produced in partnership with award-winning artists from across the world. Each year blends storytelling, history, classic Christmas music, and original performances into a unique experience.
Audience members become part of the broadcast that airs during Christmas week on radio stations across the nation. Posters, photography, and details for each season will be featured here as they become available, along with links to upcoming events.
From early American frontiers to eras of innovation, revival, and national challenge—each episode offers a fresh perspective on the stories and songs that shaped a particular moment in our nation’s history.
